How do I conduct an item ysis of the EPQ using SPSS?

I am not sure exactly what you mean by an item ysis, but I think what you want is to choose questions that are both related to each other and test different aspects of personality. It seems like you would want to do a factor ysis of the questions or to choose, without statistics but based on theoretical concepts, which questions seem to test the information you want. In other words, some personality factors should probably be mutually exclusive so therefore they should not correlate highly with each other or actually have a high negative correlation, but should correlate highly and positively with other questions that should relate to the same personality factor. Some decisions cannot be made purely statistically, you have to use human decision.
