Is there a way to move messages around within the group?

If someone, say, starts a topic that is nearly identical to an existing topic, is there a way to fuse the threads, or append one to the other, or just move the new message to the end of the existing thread, or anything of that nature? Seems like a pretty basic moderator function to me, but I don't see it.
