How do asteroids diffrenet from comets?

Asteroids are made of sturdy material as in mostly rock and other organic and even inorganic matter. Comets on the other hand are generally smaller than asteroids and are made primarily of dust particles and ice. Asteroids usually make it past the atmosphere if they collide with earth but comets usually vaporize in the atmosphere because they can't withstand the heat.
