A question for you country fans?

I was listening to the song Seven Spanish Angels sung by Willie Nelson and Ray Charles today, and wondered who had written the song. I found on wikipedia that it was written in the 1980's, which can't be right because I also heard a cover of Elvis doing the song. So what gives? Does anybody know how old that song is, or who originally wrote it?
